Ballard Services is committed to provide the best electrical industry related services, design, engineering, communication technology and energy systems.
In 1954, Bert E. Ballard, Sr., with fellow electrician Norm Knott, formed the partnership of Ballard Electric. Their company was incorporated under the laws of the State of Illinois in 1960 as Ballard Electric, Inc.
In 1977 Bert’s sons Carl and Bert, Jr. ( Ed ), together with partners Larry Branch and Ronald Anderson, took over company ownership. In 1987, Joseph Sinclair became a partner; and in 1988, to reflect the company’s growth and diversification, the corporation was renamed Ballard Companies, Inc. In 1995 Scott Hangartner became a partner. The transition of ownership has continued to new full partners over the years.
Departments within Ballard Companies are Ballard Electric Inc., Ballard Engineering and Pro Com Systems.
Ballard Electric performs multifamily, commercial, industrial, governmental and institutional electrical construction projects, whether they are competitively bid, negotiated or custom designed in-house. We also provide repair, maintenance and emergency services for our clients.
Ballard Electric is signatory to the local Inside Agreement, as well as the National Maintenance Agreement with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and a charter member of the Northern Illinois Chapter National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA).
Since 1982, Ballard Engineering has provided design, engineering, construction and consulting services for customers who need energy and power management projects. They work primarily with power generation, cogeneration, combined heat and power, and distribution systems, as well as energy (electric and natural gas) procurement.
Ballard Engineering has teamed up with the Midwest Cogeneration Association and with energy providers to show customers how and when they can best buy electricity in the deregulated market. Our integrated system advises clients when to run their generators, when to purchase energy from the grid and when to forward hedge the electric and gas markets.
Pro Com Systems has been a division of Ballard Companies since 1983, and has grown to be the largest communications and specialty contractor in the region. Pro Com specializes in all types of electronic communications systems—from nurse call to fire and burglar alarm systems, closed circuit TV to network cabling systems. We can design, install, test and certify systems to meet almost any need. We also provide 24/7 emergency services for all systems they install.
Pro Com personnel are certified through the Illinois Department of Professional Regulations and are also members of the National Systems Contractors Association and the National Fire Protection Association.
